[7 Jul]One Asia Convention Incheon 2012

One Asia Convention Incheon 2012 was held at Hyatt Regency Incheon in South Korea. Approximately 350 participants, mainly academics and university students, who attended the convention. Keynote speeches in the morning and breakout sessions and discussions were organized in the afternoon, following the theme of “Towards the Asian Community.” The afternoon sessions were divided into 3 fields of; Politics and Economics, History and Education, and Culture and Arts, presenting reports/speeches by 27 professors who participated in a course on Asian Community at universities from each region in Asia. This event was also celebrating an inaugural ceremony of establishment of One Asia Club Incheon. To see the programme of the convention, click here.

[23 Mar]Mr. Yoji Sato, delivered a lecture and attended the Scholarship Awarding ceremony at Mongolian National School of Radio and Television (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia)

Mongolian National School of Radio and Television is a college at the Mongolian University of Arts and Culture, composed of six such colleges. This college ran a course on “Formation of Asian Community and the future of Asia.” Its last lecture was given by Mr. Yoji Sato, Chairman of One Asia Foundation on March 23, 2012, at the school’s lecture hall. Reflecting students’ high level of interest in this subject, more than 250 participants listened to the lecture for 90 minutes and asked a lot of questions. This lecture also attracted media attention and was covered by a number of TV and radio stations including Mongolian National Television. After the lecture, Mr. Yoji Sato had a pleasant chat with the president of the University of Arts and Culture and the dean of the School of Radio and Television.

[22 Mar]Chairman of One Asia Foundation gave a lecture at Sangmyung University (Seoul in S. Korea)

Sangmyung University in Seoul started a new course on “Asian Community in March 2012, and Mr. Yoji Sato, Chairman of the Foundation, delivered his lecture for 90 minutes at the third session of the course on March 22, 2012. After delivering the lecture in the University’s big lecture hall, Mr. Sato answered many questions from students who took the course. Before giving the lecture, Mr. Sato had a pleasant talk with Mr. Kang Tae-Eoem, president of the University, and professor Chung Hyun-Sook.

[15 Mar]Mr. Yoji Sato, Chairman, and Dr. Chung Joon-Kon, Senior Researcher, of One Asia Foundation, appeared on a live TV show aired by Mongol UBS Television

Mr. Yoji Sato, Chairman, and Dr. Chung Joon-Kon, Senior Researcher, of One Asia Foundation, appeared on a live TV show in a morning program aired by Mongolia UBS Television, a representative commercial TV station in the country. They outlined the vision of “Asian Community” and activities of One Asia Foundation for about 40 minutes through this TV program.

[12 Mar]National Chi Nan University (Nantou Province, Taiwan) started its “Asian Community” course

On March 12, 2012, a new course on Asian Community started at National Chi Nan University and about 70 students of the Department of Education participated in this course. Mr. Yoji Sato, Chairman of the Foundation, gave the first lecture of the course for 90 minutes. After the delivery of the lecture, Mr. Sato attended a friendly meeting with 6 responsible faculty members including Mr. Her-Jiun Shen (president of the University), Mr. Chen-Sheng Yang (dean of the Department) and Mr. Wu-Hsun Yang (in charge of the subject).

Feb. 2012

[20 Feb]Tsinghua University (Beijing, China) started a new course on “Asian Community”

On February 20, 2012, a new course on “Series of lectures on Asian Community; comparison between oriental and occidental architecture and urban culture” started at Tsinghua University. Mr. Yoji Sato, Chairman of One Asia Foundation, gave the first lecture of this course.

[13 Feb]A visit to the Indonesia University of Education (Bandung) to deliver the last lecture and award scholarships to participants in the course on “Asian Community”

On February 13, 2012, the course on “Globalization and Asian Community,” which was the first of such a course in Indonesia subsidized by One Asia Foundation, had its last day. Mr. Yoji, Sato, Chairman of the Foundation gave the last lecture of the course. After the lecture, 20 participating students were awarded scholarships of the Foundation. While staying in Indonesia, Mr. Sato visited the place of Asian-African Conference (Memorial Bandung Conference), which had been held in 1955. Later, Mr. Yoji Sato made a courtesy visit to the Mayor of Bandung.

[20 Jan]The end of the special course on “Listen to the Voices of Asia to form an Asian Community” run at Kaetsu University(Tokyo)

Kaetsu University’s special extension course on Listen to the Voices of Asia to form an Asian Community” finished on January 20, 2012. Many students participated in this course and it was open for public, too. Mr. Yoji Sato, Chairman of the Foundation, delivered the last lecture together with Mr. Eiichi Shindo, representative of International Academic Society for Asian Community (professor emeritus, Tsukuba University). After the last lecture, the Scholarship Awarding ceremony was held and One Asia Foundation provided scholarships for ten students.

[19 Jan]Mr. Sato gave the closing lecture and attended the Scholarship Awarding ceremony held at College of International relations, Nihon University(Shizuoka)

On January 19, 2012, College of International relations, Nihon University finished the second year of the special course on “Asian Community.” The last lecture of the course was given by Mr. Yoji Sato, Chairman of One Asia Foundation. After the delivery of the lecture, he attended the Scholarship Awarding ceremony being held as a part of the course.

Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration, Chulalongkorn University started a course on “Global initiative in Asian Community and business administration” on January 11, 2012. Mr. Yoji Sato, Chairman of the Foundation gave the first lecture of the course
